building Phase

The Building Phase is the process of developing solution components: the code for any infrastructure solution and documentation that engineers create, as well as the infrastructure that supports them. All team roles participate in the Building Phase and internal testing of the deliverables.  

It follows the Planning Phase of the Deliver Phase and culminates in the Scope Complete Milestone.  At the Scope Complete Milestone, all features are complete and the solution is ready for external testing and stabilization.  This milestone is the opportunity for the Client, users, operations and support personnel, and key project stakeholders to evaluate the solution and identify any remaining issues that must be addressed before releasing the solution to production.  Specifically, build documents, migration plans, and engineered products are tested and implemented to support the Client’s requirements.
